Landscape Fragments

Landscape painting in the history of arts

Texture and Layer Technique within Kunst-Lux artworks. Most of the artworks consist of 7 or more layers of Acrylic colors on canvas.

What are landscape fragments? Fragments in art. To answer this question, you have to take a step back historically. While landscape painting of the antiquity as a panel painting or in the Rennaissance had the goal of first correctly understanding the perspective, learning to reproduce it and reproducing it on the canvas, there were a series of movements in the history of art, which, however, not only thematically combined with landscape, had sometimes the focus on light and color (impressionists), sometimes on form (expressionists). The correct representation of space and perspective moved into the background in favor of a two-dimensional interpretation with respective emphasis on color or form. While - at the beginning of the 19th century - the exact representation of nature was the goal, now the interpretation and message was in the foreground. In the twentieth century, the theme of landscape and nature deals with many different styles, in line with the manifold artistic movements. Also media such as photography and video have always dealt with these topics and always go new ways.

Landscape fragments in my artwork

Part of the artwork "Tosca 6", Acryl on canvas, a typical Tuscany farmhouse in Italy.

For me, landscape fragments mean to perceive the landscape in two perspectives: as a whole and with a focus on individual areas. How often does a picture get a different statement from another perspective or with focus on a particular section? So I try to put in my pictures again and again a different focus. On the one hand, the landscape image provides me with an overall view, not at least because of the power of the brain that composes the fragments. On the other hand, the nesting or the natural passe-partout focuses on further individual parts of the large whole - the pictures in the picture - fragments of the landscape. Take a look at the landscapes, perceive them individually, as a whole and experience the different perspectives.
